In August 1984 Anne and Mary met at Broadstairs folk festival. They quickly found out how well the two voices blended, and offers of work followed closely on their first tentative public appearances. They toured together fairly intensively over the next five years and recorded an album, “Burnt Feathers” for the Fellside label, produced by Martin Simpson. Two tours in the US and one in Ireland, as well as gigs in Scotland and all over the UK, all while they were both holding down full-time teaching jobs in inner London schools.

At the end of five years both had other interests to pursue and they went their separate ways, but have remained good friends despite the geographic distances involved. Mary now lives in California and Anne in Wales.
